It’s been a while..Longer than I had even imagined however I wanted to write before the end of the year this post as this is literally more important than my current life that is so busy and…oh wait…nothing is happening there whereas in tv world always something happens.
I did want to do something similar to the last year by listing down this year’s top ten tv series I have had pleasure of watching. Without further a due, here are the best of this year’s newcomers (with slight comments though and hopefully with no spoilers):
WARNING: opinion is subjective!
I actually had so much trouble of starting this show. When it first came out, my friends had already finished it within a week when I could not even pick up the first episode. Now few months later I actually finished it. The first couple of episodes again were so slow however in the end of the show I grew to love it. It represents a story of a man who seeks a revenge for something horrible that happened to his family. It kinda is different from other Marvel heroes’ as it shows how the character grew and how much he could possibly grow more. It shows all the struggles also with the gruesome details which is why younger people should not even watch it. There were scenes that even I had to close my eyes towards the end of the show. If I would have been stuck with just watching few episodes from the beginning the show would not have even made the list.
Unbelievable how great a show can be with not even making any sense at all. The scenes seem to be taken out from the movie The Room as the characters sound sometimes terribly robotic but funny. I kinda liked how it developed throughout the series. I do hope it returns next year but we’ll see.
It’s quite interesting to see some of the autobiographies made into series. For the last couple of years I have found many that turn out to be masterpieces. Related to “Narcos” this series is quite actual even today as the main character is still alive in real life and is facing criminal charges. I love the concept and there should be more series similar to these. As in autobiographies I mean. PS. If one would like Narcos – El Chapo is a nice addiction reliever.
There are so many great new shows. What makes them even greater is the fact that some of the new shows are based on extremely good books. As is this and I wanted to mention how good production the show has. Just amazing how a woman’s life can be brought into the eye of a normal person in the shade of vulnerability and openness. It shows how a woman can be scrutinized and how they can be played. How woman builds a shield between the predator and her body…it is just beautiful show. However it is quite delicate series so some women might feel a bit overwhelmed about this. Please watch it w i t h o u t children though.
For some reason this show has received quite bad publicity and is not very famous around the globe. The critics have not given high scores to this but for me…I felt connection. It is rather delicate topic again as comparing to the no. 7. I don’t want to go into too many details but this really caught my attention and I was quite intrigued. It had this suspense moment which I generally look for in any series that I am watching. Pretty intense show and I recommend it!
Another great autobiography! Brilliant show! I have suggested this to many of my friends as it uncovers one of the greatest person in history. Please watch this and you will not regret! Nothing more to add without giving away spoilers.
This show is based on legends that might or might not have happened in the past. It’s pretty intense and for some that love horror series – this is perfect for them!
I kind of was caught in to the depth of the story and the secrets. Stories how mind plays tricks with us and how easily we forget things that hurt us in the most awful way because mind has a crazy way of dealing with drama.
As I ready the book long before it was even thought of being made into TV series, I already went ahead and suggested this book too all my girl friends knowing it will become a movie. Little did I know that it became a TV show which was so well received that the author is writing story line to the second season!
Twisted minds of serial killers. As a gruesome horror-story hunter, I loved the story since the first minute of it. I quickly knew it was the best show of the year!
Shows left out for few reasons from the list:
A guilty pleasure!
I would have listed it as a top 2 of my list however I started to watch it in early January – didn’t find too much room in the listing.
EDIT: This year was definitely a win for NETFLIX!
